Get paid by dealerships without waiting for their check run

Vendors that bill car dealerships can collect by check draft: the dealership's controller or office manager approves the invoice from an emailed link, and the vendor prints the draft and deposits it the same day, instead of waiting for the store's accounting office to cut and mail a check.

How do dealership vendors usually get paid?

Many dealerships still pay vendors by check, through an accounting office that runs checks on its own schedule. A dealer group may route invoices through one office for several stores, and a check needs the right signer at the right store.

For marketing vendors, that can mean finishing a campaign weeks before the payment for it arrives, with postage, printing and media already paid for.

Where do check drafts help?

  • Monthly retainers and subscriptions billed to the same stores every month.
  • Campaign invoices that have to be paid before the next one starts.
  • Dealer groups with several rooftops, each with its own account and approver.
  • Past-due invoices where the store is happy to pay now but its check run is days away.

Which authorization fits best?

For a store you bill every month, ask the controller for a blanket authorization once, capped at the largest invoice you expect. Each draft emails them a notice, so accounting always knows what was drafted.

For one-off campaigns, send a one-time approval for the exact invoice amount. Already have draft terms in your signed dealer agreement? Record that authorization on file.

What does a typical week look like with DraftPay?

  1. 1

Drop in the invoice or check

Quick Draft reads the payer, bank details and amount, and matches the customer you already have.

  2. 2

    Your customer approves

From an emailed link, or not at all under a blanket authorization or one you already have on file.

  3. 3

    Print the drafts together

Approved drafts wait in your print queue. Print them in one batch on blank check stock.

  4. 4

    Deposit and move on

Deposit them at your own bank. Every draft keeps its signed record.

Common questions

Can each store in a dealer group approve separately?

Yes. Each store is its own customer in DraftPay, with its own bank account and approver, so the right person approves for each rooftop.

Does the dealership need an account with DraftPay?

No. The approver opens the link we email them and approves. There's nothing to install or sign up for.
